ABOUT PRODUCTION

Site-specific Dance- Yoik, Scenic – Dramatic performance.
With: An old nordic sail/fishing boat, a zip-line, South Sámi language and yoik (trad singing) a mountain, a river and music as artistic tools.
Place: Mosjøen/Mussere – Vefsn municipality, where
structural Sámi discrimination is prevalent, even though the town also has made its Sámi name – Mussere – official. In the town there is a statue of the Sámi pioneer woman, Elsa Laula Renberg, who fought for her indigenous fellow Sámi people’s rights to land for reindeer herding and permission to use their own language, which was forbidden by the Norwegian
State. The local municipality has now given her land too international investors who ruin it by building wind turbines for profit.

Showing and using these meaningful expressions too support a united struggle to re-establish the status of the local Sami Culture, and in spite of disagreements, heal us to become a better society valuing our differences as assets.
