“THROUGH THE EYES OF A SEAGULL”
A multiple artistic concept to turn and discuss perspectives, analyzing “who’s the other”, “who’s telling the stories”, “where do I come from” using one of the most misunderstood and misinterpreted birds in the world as our metaphor and guide; The Gull /Seagull

This has so far led me to new ways of thinking + projects and performances as:

“TO SEE OR NOT TO SEA”
– Site spesific performance by a joiker and a dancer, from
an islet – for the gulls, a costal cruiser and audience on a
quay. Addressing the pollution, the overharvesting the,
suffocation, of our mother, our source of life; THE OCEAN.

which met and launched Ada’s concept Gaaja Gaaja.

“Two artists meet. Both with roots and background from
the Sea Sami culture. A meeting that reflects the. sea, the
coast, people, birds and animals in close relations. Drawing from love to our region as it faces many challenges with the depletion of its resources, an interactive artwork is constructed from motion, dance
sound and music. Artistic expressions in contrast, complementation, collaboration, questions and answers. A dynamic, yet serene room developed there and then. A
real time experience, a moment of reflection leads the
audience into a universe to which we all belong, namely
nature and familiar things we so enjoy exploring”

“The seagulls are the souls of the dead sailors”
Search for traces of my Sea Sami ancestors who flew away as they were silenced by the Norwegian  Government and church. Working on transformation of mind and body, metaphorical, in space and body. Transforming myself wearing the summer gakti/dress like my grandmother and transforming into a gull when life gets difficult.  Only gakti/dress left, and are the traces of them in the land forbidden to them. Travelling to India, to find my migrating seagull relatives and traces from them. Wearing my summer gakti and joining my gull relatives in India.

“Where does your great grandparents come from and why does the seagull scream?”
School-project age 8-12, addressing search for roots and new perspectives by collecting the childrens seagull stories and analyzing them in the perspective of the seagull. We agreed that the seagull is the soul of our ancestors. Children drew and told stories.
