Work in Progress: ROP FRA KYSTENS KATEDRALER, 2026
ROP FRA KYSTENS KATEDRALER — Seagulls are the souls of the dead sailors (working title) is a performance that takes place simultaneously in past–present–future, revealing local stories, languages, and intangible cultural heritage from within their own contexts, expressed through contemporary artistic tools.

Everything that has happened here is happening now, constantly, and into the future.
A site-specific performance inside the coastal “cathedral” — the nothjell—where movement, joik, music, and stories meet in the open air. The work draws from rich Sámi, Norwegian, and Kven storytelling traditions and becomes a tribute to life, death, and the powerful forces that shape northern coastal communities.
Although northern history is often told as three separate narratives, our peoples have always lived intertwined, sharing the same sky, the same weather, the same work, the same joys and sorrows. Cultural and linguistic differences enrich us when they are given space, respect, and humility.
This project illuminates these shared histories and living connections—a weaving of voices, memories, and movement in one of the coast’s most iconic structures.
